Know Your Neighbourhood: Spotlight on Acadia
Like most communities built in the 60s and 70s, Acadia is regentrifying. Most homes in Acadia are bungalow-style & situated on good sized lots. Acadia has been seeing the migration of young families, and for good reason; there are 8 schools within the neighbourhood. ( Lord Beaverbrook High School, David Thomson, Acadia School, Foundation For Future Charter, Dr. Norman Bethune Campus, French Immersion). There are two major shopping centres - Chinook and South Centre Mall equidistant - along with Deerfoot Meadows, hosting both Costco and Ikea. Acadia is also home to the Alberta Tennis Centre (the largest tennis club in Alberta), Sue Higgins Dog Park tying into Fish Creek Park Pathways. Easy access to downtown Calgary and access to all major arteries, Deerfoot Trail, Glenmore, Blackfoot and Macleod Trail. There are two LRT Stations, ( Heritage and Southland LRT.
